 easyJet will launch three new routes from Manchester this winter to Munich and Marrakech, in addition to the Copenhagen flight already mentioned on this site.
Virgin Atlantic have announced cutbacks on it's winter schedule, whilst Air Asia X's flight from London to Kuala Lumpur, is now daily instead of five times a week.  Take thousand tons of sand, palm trees, deckchairs, glistering torsos and ubiquitous ice cream sellers - and you have the Paris Plages. Beware, no g-strings, topless or nudist beachgoers allowed unless you want a 38 € fine!
 If you need to rent a car in the US, be prepared to to pay more. The average price to rent a standard car for one week has risen by 73% to USD 346 during the past 12 months according to an analysis from Abrams Consulting.
Hotel occupancy in Copenhagen down 20%
British Airways will be cutting back flights on it's winter schedule from Gatwick and Heathrow.  Believe it or not, it's not from RyanAir, but China's first private airline, Spring Air. They are pushing the concept of no-frills travel to the extreme, announcing plans to strip its aircraft of seats.
Starting in November, EasyJet have announced their 5th route out of Copenhagen, this time with six weekly flights to Manchester.
Turkish Airlines have kicked off their 3 times weekly Göteborg (Gothenburg)-Istanbul.  I used to live in a small flat at La Barceloneta. During the recurrent heat waves of the Spanish summer it often got so hot that I had to sleep with my head out on the balcony to be able to breath. On nights like that the best idea was to get out of ‘bed’ and walk down to the nearby beach.  WizzAir are giving tickets away on their new route between Prague and Venice.
Cimber Sterling are to start operations between Billund and Paris, Wind Jet between Luton and Forli and Fly Be between Gatwick and Dusseldorf.  Sweaty metro stations, pungent garbage bags and steaming streets... welcome to summer in NYC! But before you follow the hoards down to the Hamptons, remember that you don't need to escape the city to, erm, escape the city...

 Lloyd Hotel is located in the Easter Dockland Areas. It was formerly a hotel for migrants, a Nazi prison and later a youth penitentiary, and still you feel at home immediately.  Okay, Hotel Chopin might not be the fanciest hotel when measured against those designer hallucinations pouring out of Philippe Starck’s office, but on a scale of charm and personality, Chopin scores. Hyatt in Tokyo. The Kenzo Tange designed towers in which some of the
most memorable scenes and superbly understated dialogues take place
between Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson in ‘Lost in Translation’.  Open since 1991, the East Village Bed & Coffee is now one of the area’s old-timers, but it’s still easy to walk past this guesthouse without even knowing what it is. There’s no sign—just two doors on the street, one painted bright red with the street number,the other one covered with stickers and graffiti but no handle.  Mr. Khanna greets us in the large and sumptuous sitting area, tastefully
adorned with huge leather sofas sculptures and a couple of laptops at the
guests' disposal. A small flight of stairs leads to a small but well appointed
library, and in the room next door there's a large kitchen where the guests from
the five rooms can enjoy a breakfast.
Lazy Days at the City Beach
Big city living in July and August? Until recently it still felt like a punishment, especially if you were forced to stay in one of the inland capitals or a large city far from the sea. Paris, Prague, Berlin and Madrid were real killers, and I remember getting a high fever in London because I couldn’t get rid of the day’s heat fast enough.
Those days are over. Now, urban beaches have popped up all over Europe and made summertime survivable for citydwellers who can’t or won’t leave home for cooler climes. They’ve even proven attractive for tourists, who can now pause between visits to overheated museums and veg out in a downtown deck chair (or play beach volleyball in a closed crossroads.)
For the next two weeks Momondo’s bloggers will guide you to the best city beaches, taking you through streetside pools and along the urban riverfronts where palm trees and tons of sand have been trucked in to create just the right atmosphere.
